About Our Organization
History Easter Seals Blake Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit social service organization, was originally formed in 1950 as the Cerebral Palsy Foundation of Southern Arizona by a group of Tucson parents who struggled to find adequate services for their young children with special needs. Since that time the agency has expanded to provide an array of services across the state of Arizona for children, youth, and adults of all abilities. The agency provides childcare (since 1950), early intervention (since 1975), vocational and employment training (since 1982), residential care (since 1993), behavioral health services (since 2004), and behavioral health outpatient services (since 2013). In 1993 the Board of Trustees decided to change the agency name, not only because the original mission had changed, but also to honor danny Blake, a very important part of the Foundation’s history. In 2007, The Blake Foundation was selected to serve as the Easter Seals affiliate for Southern Arizona and became Easter Seals Blake Foundation. Due to its experience and skill, Easter Seals Blake Foundation has been selected as an Arizona program affiliate for the national, evidence-based programs Early Head Start, Head Start, Parents as Teachers, and Nurse-Family Partnership. Our agency’s early learning and childcare centers are National Association for the Education of Young Children-accredited (meeting the highest standard of childcare quality in the country). The agency’s youth camp was endorsed by Jane Goodall and received a certificate of recognition from then-Congresswoman Gabriel Giffords. In 2013, ESBF received the Child Abuse Prevention award, at the March for Children, recognizing its ongoing work supporting abused and neglected children in Arizona. In 2014, the agency’s Project SEARCH program was named the Building Bridges’ 2014 Project of the Year. Finally, in 2015, Easter Seals Blake Foundation was selected to serve as an Intake and Care Coordination agency, which means the agency now provides behavioral health therapy, family support, and in-home interventions for individuals, of all ages, in all areas that we serve. Easter Seals Blake Foundation is well-known for innovative, effective programs, utilizing evidence-based methods and research.
